Calcium silicon, also known as calcium silicide, is an alloy composed of calcium, silicon, and traces of other elements. It is primarily used as a deoxidizer, desulfurizer, and an alloying agent in the steelmaking industry.
Apart from its use in steelmaking, calcium silicon is also utilized in the production of other alloys, including aluminum alloys, as well as in the manufacturing of certain types of batteries. Calcium Silicon function
Calcium and silicon have a strong affinity with oxygen. Especially calcium metal has a strong affinity with oxygen and has a strong affinity with sulfur and nitrogen. Therefore, calcium silicon is an ideal composite deoxidizer and desulfurizer. Silicon alloys have a strong deoxidizing ability, which helps the deoxidized products easily float and discharge, but can also improve steel’s performance in the plasticity, impact toughness, and fluidity,ductility. At present, calcium silicon alloy can replace aluminum for final deoxidation.
Si-Ca alloy is mainly composed of silicon and calcium elements. Ca content was 24- 31%, Si content was 55- 65%.

Applications
