The main components of calcium silicon are calcium (Ca) and silicon (Si). Calcium is a reactive, silvery-white alkaline earth metal, while silicon is a non-metallic element with a grayish color. When combined, calcium and silicon form a compound known as calcium silicide (CaSi2). The composition of calcium silicon can vary depending on the specific requirements of its application, but it typically contains around 30-35% calcium and 55-65% silicon.

Therefore, calcium silicon is an ideal composite deoxidizer and desulfurizer. Silicon alloys have a strong deoxidizing ability, which helps the deoxidized products easily float and discharge, but can also improve steel’s performance in the plasticity, impact toughness, and fluidity,ductility. At present, calcium silicon alloy can replace aluminum for final deoxidation.
